01 / THE BEGINNING
A new yacht.
A first assignment.
I joined Independent Catamaran in 2021 to film the newly built IC36 ahead of the Cannes Yachting Festival. The brief was to capture the yacht from the air and create a film for its presentation. That first assignment became the beginning of a collaboration that continues today.
The story continued.
I stayed with the project, documenting the IC36’s journey. Over the following years, my involvement grew to include sailing, racing, social media, maintenance and yacht care — and later, operating the boat as skipper and presenting it across the Mediterranean.
Testing the IC36 in Barcelona with the European sailing press, including Toby Hodges from Yachting World.

02 / LIFE ON BOARD
From behind the camera
to life on board.
My involvement with the IC36 grew beyond filming. Through sailing, racing and hands-on work aboard, I came to understand the yacht in daily use.
Sailing the IC36 deepened my understanding of sail trim, balance and the forces behind its performance. That experience also shaped how I filmed the yacht — recognising the details that tell its story.

The work behind every departure.
My role also included servicing, maintenance and day-to-day yacht care. Preparing the boat and staying involved between passages gave me a different perspective: understanding the work behind the sailing footage and the attention a yacht needs throughout its operation.
The less visible side of the project: maintaining systems, resolving issues and preparing the yacht for its next passage.

03 / SAILING LIFE
Sailing & racing
Racing brought another dimension to my time aboard the IC36 — refining sail trim, working as a crew and learning how the yacht responded under pressure.
Line honours for the IC36:
150 nautical miles in 13 hours and 47 minutes, reaching a top speed of 28 knots.

04 / RESPOSIBILITY
Taking responsibility on board.
I later took responsibility for operating the IC36 as skipper. My involvement now extended from documenting the yacht to running it, sailing it and presenting it across the Mediterranean.
During a night passage towards Rhodes, we reached 26 knots sailing downwind before the starboard rudder broke.
We continued for another 300 nautical miles with one rudder and finished third overall in the multihull category.

Five years. An evolving story.
Throughout the collaboration, I continued filming. The result is an extensive archive of the IC36: sailing and racing, passages, preparations and life aboard. Together, these images document the yacht’s journey and my changing role within the project.
MY INVOLVEMENT
Sailing & Racing Hands-on experience aboard the IC36.
Yacht Care Servicing, maintenance and preparation.
Captaincy & Operations Operating and presenting the yacht across the Mediterranean.
Film & Social Content Documenting the journey and contributing to the brand’s social media.
Experience that informs my work today.
My work in yacht services and visual production draws on the same foundation: practical experience on board, an understanding of the vessel and attention to the people involved.

NEXT CHAPTER / 2025
A new generation.
A broader role.
From operating the IC36 to contributing to the next chapter of Independent Catamaran.
In 2025, I joined the development process of the AION catamaran and KAIROS trimaran, bringing practical experience from the IC36 into discussions with yacht designers and naval architects.
After years of documenting, sailing and operating the IC36, I began working more closely with the people shaping the brand’s future.
Built from the ground up.
I created the new Independent Catamaran website, from its structure and content to the final build. Work began in 2025, with the site launching in early 2026 ahead of the unveiling of AION and KAIROS.
A new digital home for the yachts, their stories and the thinking behind them.

Finding the words.
I wrote the copy for the AION and KAIROS brochures, translating design ideas and technical information into a clear story for prospective owners.
Working with the yacht designer supplying the renders and a graphic designer on the minimalist layout, we brought words and imagery together.
